I am an Australian writer who is joyously in love with people and the planet. I believe laughter heals most, yet respect the need for sorrow and have learned not to be afraid of anger. Words are my passion and my profession, but I do not mistake them for the world.
Dear Liana,
I got this blog site from Cecily, who is running fantastic workshops. When I saw her, I remembered the opening ceremony you held at the foyer of the Rockingham Library for the launching of your new book. You introduced me to Cecily briefly and she gave me her details. She now has much longer hair, but after all these years I did recognise her face. She must have impressed me then.
Cecily told me you are in a cafe in Freo and reads poems every Saturday. How have you been?
Here I am back at uni, this time as a full-time honours student in sociology. I am still re-learning the feeling of being a student, trying to organise myself. In the meantime, time just disappears! My supervisor, Farida Fozdar Tilbury is great and I am ready to take the challenges on board (I might find out this is all too much, though… we’ll see).
I took out the old notebook which I used to take notes from the sessions with you and there is so much treasure in it!
All the tips and advice you gave me…!!
Maybe our paths will cross somewhere sometime.
Until then,
warmest wishes,
Maki

Hi Simon, Cafe Poets gig is run through the Australian Poetry Centre. It’s non-paying! You get free coffee or tea and develop a relationship with the cafe and local community. You dream up whatever project you fancy that would benefit yourself, the Cafe and the APC. I’ve given the URL above. You’ll be landing in Perth smack bang in the middle of the Spring Poetry Festival, which opens on Friday 26th. If you fancy there’s a good gig running at Voicebox in Fremantle at Clancy’s Tavern on Monday 29th. Friendly crowd; open mike. Info on url below:
