Locals or visitors to Fremantle will soon be able to order up a poem with their cuppa and cake. On Saturday afternoons in my guise as Lá Tropicana’s resident poet I will take orders for a complimentary limerick, haiku or short lyric poem on any theme the customer chooses. It’s all part of my Carbon Project. The top copy of the handwritten poem is given to the Café patron, and a carbon copy is displayed at the Café. People can vote for their favourite, either in person or here on this blog! If stuck for ideas, the poet promises to donate a $2 penalty fee to the Get Up ClimateActionNow Campaign. She hopes the penalty jar remains empty, but still intends to raise money for the cause by concluding the Carbon Project with a festive fundraiser at the Café, featuring poets, musicians and artists. The Carbon Project kicks off on February 13th between 1.30 and 3.30. Time and date for the fundraiser to be announced.
